GuitarToneAdapt is a free tool that helps you sound like the records you love — on the gear you actually own.
Pick any of 500+ famous guitar tones. GuitarToneAdapt shows the researched amp settings, gear and effects behind the original — then re-dials every knob for your exact guitar, amp, pickups and pedals. No more copying someone else's settings blindly and wondering why it sounds nothing like the record: the same settings behave differently on different rigs, and that translation is the whole point.
Each tone in the library is built from real sources — rig rundowns, interviews, gear lists and the gear actually used on the recording — not guesswork. Where the original gear is known, it's listed; where settings are estimated, they're presented as community-researched starting points, with sources linked on the page. Estimates are clearly labelled as estimates. The goal is an honest, useful starting point you can trust and then tweak by ear.
Beginners who want to sound right while they learn a song, gigging players matching a tone live, and anyone tired of "scoop the mids and crank the gain" advice that ignores their actual amp. Everything is free, runs in the browser, and needs no account.
Alongside the tone library we build free, no-sign-up tools: an online tuner, a metronome, a chord transposer, a plain-English guide to amp settings, and a guess-the-tone game.
