Start slower than feels comfortable — a clean note at 70 BPM beats a sloppy one at 120. Lock the chord change or riff in at that tempo until it's effortless, then nudge the BPM up a few clicks and repeat. The downbeat accent (the brighter click on beat 1) helps you feel the bar so you don't drift. Practising to a steady click is the single fastest way to tighten your timing.
