| 60–76 | Largo / Adagio — slow ballads, practice for clean fingering |
| 76–108 | Andante / Moderato — most pop & rock verses |
| 120 | The default — countless songs sit right here |
| 120–168 | Allegro — driving rock, punk, upbeat strumming |
| 168–200 | Presto — fast punk, metal, bluegrass picking |
Start slower than feels comfortable — a clean note at 70 BPM beats a sloppy one at 120. Lock the chord change or riff in at that tempo until it's effortless, then nudge the BPM up a few clicks and repeat. The downbeat accent (the brighter click on beat 1) helps you feel the bar so you don't drift. Practising to a steady click is the single fastest way to tighten your timing.
