The Positive Grid Spark is a smart modeling amp — most of the tone lives in the amp model you pick in the Spark app, then the physical Gain/EQ knobs fine-tune it.
Choose the amp model in the app. The Spark app has 30+ models. Pick by genre: a Twin/Deluxe-style for clean, a Plexi/JCM-style for rock, a Rectifier/5150-style for metal. This is the biggest tone decision.
Clean. A clean (Twin/Deluxe) model. Gain low 2–3, Bass 5, Mid 5, Treble 6, add Reverb and maybe Modulation — sparkly and dynamic.
Blues / classic rock. A crunch (Bassman/Plexi) model. Gain 4–5, Mid 6–7, light reverb. Rolls back clean with your guitar volume.
Rock / hard rock. A British high-gain (JCM/Plexi) model. Gain 5–6, Bass 5, Mid 6, Treble 6, a touch of delay.
Metal. A modern high-gain (Rectifier/5150) model. Gain 7–8, Bass 6, Mid 4–5, Treble 6, add the noise gate. Keep the gain tight, not maxed.
Smart Jam and community tones. The Spark app has thousands of downloadable community tones plus Smart Jam and auto-chords for practice — a quick way to find a starting tone, then tweak the knobs.
💡 On the Spark the amp MODEL in the app matters most — match it to your genre, then use the Gain and EQ knobs to fine-tune. Clean for sparkle, Plexi for rock, Rectifier/5150 for metal.
