Kemper Profiler settings and how to dial in a profile
The Kemper Profiler does not model amps — it plays profiles (captures) of real rigs. So the biggest decision is which profile you load; after that you shape Gain and the amp EQ. Here is how to work with it per genre.
Start from a good profile. Browse <b>Rig Manager</b> and the free Rig Exchange (thousands of profiles). Search by the amp you want — a Rectifier profile for metal, a Plexi/JCM profile for rock, a Twin/Deluxe profile for clean. A great profile gets you 90% there.
Set Gain to taste. The <b>Gain</b> knob works across every profile — turn it down for a tighter, cleaner sound or up for more saturation, without changing the profile's character. For metal, resist maxing it; controlled gain stays tight.
Shape with the amp EQ. Use the amp <b>Bass / Middle / Treble / Presence</b> to fine-tune. Metal: slight mid scoop but keep enough mids to cut a mix. Rock: mids up. Clean/blues: flat-ish with a little treble.
Cab and the profile. A studio profile bakes in a miked cab. You can swap the cab section or turn it off for a real power amp + cab (Kemper "Monitor Cab Off"). For direct/recording, keep the cab on and try different profiles rather than heavy EQ.
Gate and effects. The Noise Gate (in the input section) is essential for high gain — set it just enough to silence hum without choking sustain. Add stomps and delay/reverb in the Kemper's FX slots.
Save and lock. Store per-genre rigs and use Performance mode for quick live switching. Lock the input/output sections so your gate and levels stay consistent as you change profiles.
