🎛️ Boss GT-1000

Boss GT-1000 / GT-1000CORE settings and best amp models

The Boss GT-1000 (and the compact GT-1000CORE) uses AIRD amp models plus a fully tweakable Custom amp. The tone comes from the amp type you pick and the cab/IR after it. Boss effects are studio-grade, so build a simple chain and let the amp do the work. Here is a starting point per genre.

 1. Build the chain. A reliable order: Comp/Gate → OD/DS → Amp (AIRD) → Cab/IR → EQ → Delay → Reverb. Start with one amp block; the GT-1000 can run two amps in parallel later.
 2. Metal / high-gain. Pick a high-gain AIRD type: X-Hi Gain, HiGain Stack or Recti. Keep amp Gain around 5–7, put an OD (Boss OD / TS-style) in front with low drive and level up to tighten, scoop mids slightly, add the gate. Use a 4x12 cab sim or load a V30 IR, and high-cut around 8 kHz.
 3. Rock / hard rock. Amp VO Drive (Vox), Brown or Deluxe Crunch, Gain 5–6, mids up, a British 4x12. A light boost in front for solos.
 4. Blues / classic rock. Amp Deluxe Crunch or Tweed at edge of breakup, Gain 3–4, ride your volume knob; add an overdrive for leads.
 5. Clean. The GT-1000's JC-120 model (Roland Jazz Chorus) is a native, class-leading clean — pair it with the built-in chorus for the classic sparkle. A Twin or Deluxe model also works. Keep Gain low and add a plate reverb.
 6. Use IRs and the global EQ. The stock cabs are good, but a quality IR tightens metal and rock fast. Set a low-cut (~90 Hz) and high-cut (6–9 kHz) to remove mud and fizz, and save a patch per genre so you can switch instantly live.
💡 On the GT-1000 pick the AIRD amp type by genre (JC-120 for clean, VO Drive/Brown for rock, X-Hi Gain/Recti for metal), keep Gain moderate, tighten metal with an OD in front, and load an IR with a high-cut to kill fizz.
